I recently installed Visual Studio for Mac right after the day it was launched. It consumed 20 gb of my disc space, so I decided to remove it. I went in to the applications folder and moved recently installed components associated with the installation to the trash. But it did not free any space at all. So I searched online and followed the following link for uninstallation: Uninstalling Xamarin
How to Uninstall Android Studio Using Terminal. As we mentioned before, you can’t just drag and drop the Android Studio app to Trash. The reason is that in this case, applications leave their service files on your Mac. To uninstall Android Studio with all its service files at once, use the Terminal command line. Follow the steps below.
After following the link and entering all the terminal commands, I was only able to free up 10 gb of storage. How do I free up the rest 10 gb of the storage ?

Current version Of MS VS takes 20GB on a macOs drive.
Please read the script to avoid removing shared stuff like Mono, NuGet & Visual Studio Code traces if it is needed by another app on your Mac.
Following script will free 20GB of space. Just put it in 'uninstall.sh' file and run via terminal as 'sudo ./uninstall.sh' (Do not forget to set to set execute permission on the file):
Luckily I was able to solve this big trouble. I downloaded and installed an application called OmniDiskSweeper, and scanned my disk. The app immediately displayed 16 gb of traces of the Visual Studio and I deleted them all to free up all the space. The link to the download is: this

After you moved the installed components to the Trash, you should empty Trash that will free several hundreds MB size. To remove other remaining components or files, you can check the installer log in ~/Library/Logs/XamarinInstaller/Universal as Sandy’s recommend and John Smith found the various things mainly in Library/Frameworks manually removed. All-in-all came to about 14Gb worth so basically most of it.
After that, you can have a look at the following folders and think about remove those files which modified date or created date is the same time when you installed the VS for Mac on your computer. (you can backup it before you remove them)
~/Library/Application Support/

~/Library/Preferences
~/Library/Caches
~/Library/Logs/
/Developer/MonoAndroid

I need to clean install vscode on my mac. I opened the terminal and removed the .vscode/ from ~. I also delete the Visual Studio Code.app/ from /. However, after deleting all that and download a fresh copy, I installed and open the editor and the editor remembered the last project I had. For me, that means that it is something else I need to delete but I can't find it. I went to the documentation but can't find anything about uninstalling the editor. Does anyone know how to completely uninstall VSCode from mac?
What I have tried
Following this instructions and new installation of vscode keeps remembering the last project I opened.

Here are all the places where VSCode stores stuff on Mac OS X, besides the Visual Studio Code.app itself, which is in your Applications folder:
The solution to my problem was to cd to the following path... /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support and delete the folder called Code. That folder contains all the setting and is not overwrite with a new installation. Looking through the entire file structure, VSCode name folder different. Sometimes folders are called .vscode/, or code/, or Visual Studio Code.app.
This worked for me ( VS Code 1.30 with MacOS - High Sierra 10.13.6 )
Step 1:
Step 2:
Step 3:
rm -rf $HOME/.vscode
Step 4:

Step5:
Here is my approach:
- Open finder
- Click on Home icon(which has your username as label)
- Click on Library Folder. Note Library folder may be hidden, so you will need to click on Shift+CMD+. to open hidden files and folders.
- Click Application Support folder
- Find Code folder beneath Application Support and delete it(You delete Code Folder of course)
If using a 3rd-party application is OK, check out App Cleaner.
It basically does the same thing as the other answer, but via a GUI and you don't have to manually remove all files/dirs one-by-one. Just drag VS Code from the Applications folder into App Cleaner, then it will find all the related files for you, and then you just have to click on the Remove button.
(Note: I did not make the app nor do I get anything out of it. I'm just a fan.)

To completely and clean uninstall there are several steps depending on the combinations of components you have installed/used. Check the official documentation from Microsoft at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/mac/uninstall
