Thank you for choosing the model RAC2V1S router, manufactured by Sagemcom for use with Spectrum services. The model RAC2V1S router (referred to throughout this manual as the RAC2V1S) is built with a host of features to deliver maximum speed and performance. In setting up my Sagemcon F@st 5355 gateway I found it very frustrating that there was no Manual or instructions for this gateway on Telstra's Website so I created a manual to help others - 643374.

Most Sagem routers come with an elementary password known to everyone and written on the device's box. Hackers know this and always try to access your network with these preconfigured passwords. So when you first connect to you new Sagem Fast 1704N router’s interface, the most important thing is to change your initial password. You may not have to use this password often, so be sure to have it written in a safe place. Without it, the only way to access the router may be to reset the device’s factory settings.
Change Sagem Fast 1704N Default IP Address
The routers take the first possible address (192.168.0.1), change it to 192.168.0.99 or something similar to that, which you can easily remember. You can change the IP addresses, that are used to a group reserved for private networks. Most Sagem routers have the default SSID. These names are known and limited in number, enabling to scan quickly and easily for them, and to easily detect the network and its parameters if there is a match. The initial replacement of the network name, as well as regular replacement, make it difficult to identify the network easily and a also make it difficult for a subsequent attack.
